DESCRIPTION: APW – Ball Hamilton, B of RT Standard (Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen) with rare brake-wheel damascene, Grade 999C, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF Ball Model recase with B of RT initial monogram on rear, white enamel SS dial with B of RT logo, SW-LS, brake-wheel pattern nickel damascene, s#28447. The damascene pattern of this watch depicts a 5-spoke locomotive brake-wheel, this very distinctive damascene is found only among the early portion of Ball Hamilton B of RT Standard 17 jewel production. These watches were identified in Hamilton factory records as Grade 999C, and a review of the Hamilton factory ledgers shows a total production of only 285 made. CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, slightly difficult to set as lever tends to slide back in on its own while setting, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered short fine and micro-fine scratches on plates, few specks of oxide on regulator assembly; dial has scattered faint hls, edge flake at setting lever mostly covered by bezel, tiny edge flake under bezel at 8; excellent hour hand with tiny spot of color loss on tip, fair minute and seconds-hand have oxide and loss of color; case shows very light wear, dent toward lower right of rear, engraving and engine turning detail show mild even reduction, very thin partial rings of brass on bezel and rear edge; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
